In Between
I'm guessing I'm not the only person who feels neither here nor there at the moment.
So many things are in limbo, on the edge, ready - or not! No longer on holiday but school doesn't feel like normal term time either, events have mostly been cancelled but are coming back, if in a different format. Summer's turning to Autumn. We're no longer in a full lockdown but aren't quite out on the other side either.
I think there's actually a lot to be hopeful about. School and home might not quite be normal but we're a world away from the restrictions we once had. And hope of a vaccine is much nearer than when I first wrote about lockdown back in March. It's great to be back in school and to meet new children. It's just nice to hear children and staff's voices in school. Over the lockdown, walking around the building felt like I was in Night at the Museum! It's great to see other people now and definitely healthier for everyone.
As for Autumn, who am I kidding? It's my favourite season. If you've read A Silent Song, you'll know Els feels the same. True, I probably won't be going to a big firework display for my birthday this year but as long as there's crunchy leaves in all their bright colours, I'll be happy. And you know what? Autumn gives way to Winter and 2020 fades away before the entrance of a new year. 2021 has to be better, surely?
In between - but looking forward.
